Mutual Assent: A Dystopian Science Fiction Novel

Future City of Helion

As of today, Mutual Ascent has been out for a week. The response has been overwhelming. We hit the Amazon Bestsellers list in dystopian science fiction, and that is only the beginning of what we’re accomplishing thanks in large part to the Dissenters community.

Introducing the World of Mutual Assent

The book is set in the fictional city of Helion, where a small group of elites uses technology to manipulate every aspect of society and control the future of every citizen under their command. Everyone is monitored around the clock using technology for their productivity and consumption. Everyone is forced into one of several classes.

Those who can’t be monitored directly due to genetic or acquired defects are treated with suspicion, ostracized by society, labeled as Peculiars, and relegated to the most demeaning and lowest paying jobs with no hope of improvement. They are treated with particular contempt.

Those who can no longer produce and whose consumption is inadequate are considered Useless, cast-offs who must rely upon meager stipends that are inadequate to meet their needs.

Religion is forbidden in the public square. Sharing it is punishable by death. And this comes at the expense of smothering the human condition.

Introducing the Hero of Mutual Assent

This is the world into which Zenith DeClension, a delivery specialist, is born and in which he lives. While he initially accepts the world as it is, when he loses everything that matters to him, it is then that his Dissent begins and the wheels of Mutual Assent begin to turn.

It is my intention to use this book as a rallying point for all those who dissent to that future becoming our reality. I seek to create a community of Dissenters who are committed to working toward the Mutual Assent of all humanity for a better future.
